Windsurfing: Hayling Island Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: force 4 -5 Surf / Sea State: chop Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny / showers Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Left home early to miss the traffic down almost to hayling just before 8am
so stopped at Tesco's for supplies and a mega breakfast 3 sausages 3
rashers of bacon 2 hashbrowns, mushrooms, beans, tomatos 2 fried eggs and
2 rounds of toast for £2.99 !
Well fed and up for a good sail I arrived at the beach................no
wind
Sat around on the beach for a couple of hours still waiting for the wind
decided to head to the campsite and set up tent and stuff.
Got back the beach to a little wind so rigged up 8.5 and 283 and hit the
water wind increased and was well powered up. The water was getting a bit
choppy with the tide coming up over the sand bar I was still making most of
my gybes so was quite happy.
The wind increased more and was getting very over powered and was having
trouble hanging on even with the extra large breakfast.
Changed down to smaller board with 6.3 sail don' t know why but I just
couldn't get on with smaller kit was well powered up but as soon as I
hooked in the board would spin out I tried bearing away more but I could
feel the sail wanting to drag me over the front. First thoughts mast foot
pressure but boom was over shoulder height. Found out that its not good
to enter a gybe while spinning out in chop things go a bit pear shaped had
a couple more runs but still wasn't happy. The wind dropped off and had a
few more runs back on the big kit before the wind dropped right off
Headed back to the campsite then to the pub for a nice big meal and a few
drinks
